Dr. Squid’s Toolbars and Spam

I am Yahoo!
Yahoo!-Man

That Yahoo!-Man.
I do not like that Yahoo!-Man.

Would you like some toolbar spam?

I do not want it, Yahoo!-Man.
I do not want your toolbar spam.

Would you like it here or there?
I do not want it here or there.
I would not like it anywhere.
I do not want your toolbar spam.
I do not want it Yahoo!-Man.

Would you want it in your house?
Would you click it with your mouse?
I do not want it in my house.
I will not click it with my mouse
I do not want it here or there.
I would not like it anywhere.

Would you install it on your box?
Would you install with Firefox?
Not in my box, nor Firefox.
Not in my house, nor with a mouse.
I do not want it here or there.
I would not want it anywhere.
I do not want your toolbar spam.
I do not want it Yahoo!-Man.

Would you? Could you? Change your search?
Yahoo! For all your research?
I would not, could not change my search.

You may like it.  You will see.
We’ll pester you infinitely.
I will reject you presently
Won’t change my search! Just let me be!
I do not want it on my box.
I won’t install in Firefox.
I do not want it in my house.
I will not click it with my mouse.
I do not want it here or there.
I would not like it anywhere.
I do not want your toolbar spam.
I do not want it, Yahoo!-Man.

IE! IE! IE! IE!
Could you, would you, on IE?
Not with Explorer, don’t you see?
Please piss-off and let me be!
I do not want it on my box.
I won’t install in Firefox.
I won’t bring it in my house.
I will not click it with my mouse.
I won’t install  it here or there.
I won’t install it anywhere.
I do not want your Yahoo! spam.
I do not want it Yahoo!-Man.

And in case you are at Yahoo! and reading this for the first time, please allow you to refer you to my previous article on this topic: [link deprecated]

Today, when I clicked a link to my blog, Yahoo! toolbar installed without my consent.  It uninstalled easily enough, but this toolbar war against users is really, really pissing me off.  I’m guessing it actually came in on Sun’s Java update that installed the other day… I probably missed the damn check box to disable the Yahoo! toolbar cancer.

I am tired of having to double check every single install option on all the defaults for any piece of software to ensure that some company of wankers isn’t going to bugger my browser with a toolbar and change my search engine.

I am tired of having toolbars (and it’s Yahoo! about 90% of the time) come as an added bonus that must be turned off, and if I forget or miss it somehow, I get screwed.

If you want to ensure I give your competitors a long, hard look and if you wish to seriously increase the chances I’ll move to a competing product, just stick that Yahoo! toolbar in there as a friendly suggestion.  I cancelled my subscription to AVG Anti-Virus because of their Yahoo! toolbar fetish, and moved to Kaspersky, for example.  Java will be gone as soon as a non-Sun replacement is available.

When the toolbars start costing business, perhaps these Yahoo!s will get the message.
