Tonight was the CGI social club event at Rideau Carleton Raceway slots. Free dinner and free $7 to gamble with!
Now I have to state up front that I consider slot machines to be a tax on the hard-of-thinking. Slot machines, not card tables, are how casinos pay for all that glitz and glitter. I openly refer to it as "Stupidity tax". That said, even at Casino du Lac Leamy, I tend to throw a few bucks at the slots that pay a car as the jackpot if the car is nice. The key is to not sit there at slot machines for a long time. Historically they're called "one-armed bandits" and there's a good reason for that.
Nevertheless, I tried my hand at betting on horses, and paid some stupidity tax. Although I won exactly jack on horse racing, I triple-7'd a $1 slot machine for a $300 payout, so I came home a total of $275 in the black. Not a bad night out. Thanks CGI!
